Nyc Substance Abuse Up After Sept. 11
A random survey of Manhattan residents living near the World Trade Center found they smoked and drank more, and used more marijuana during the five to eight weeks after the terrorist attacks. Almost one-third of the nearly 1,000 persons interviewed reported they increased their use of alcohol, marijuana, or cigarettes following the September 11th attacks. The largest increase was in alcohol use. About one-fourth of the respondents said they were drinking more in the weeks after the attacks, while about 10 percent reported smoking more, and 3.2 percent said they used marijuana more. "By helping to define the ... characteristics that were associated with increased alcohol, cigarette, and marijuana use following the traumatic events of September 11th," investigators said, "this research will help us to design more effective substance abuse treatment and prevention strategies for individuals coping with severe stress."
Don't start smoking. If you do smoke then quit. I dislike cigaretter taxes also. So until you beat Mr. Nick and you can check out cheap generic cigarettes ... here is one site cheap generic cigarettes. Dying and in the poor house... not a smart way to go. We need you!
