Hoist the sail thingie
Sonya sent me this clipping. She knows I like to say "thingie" to describe some technical jargon I am much to lazy to learn.
I've been brushing up on my sailing nomenclature. You can
never be too prepared, right? Because when you get on a
boat you don't want to start yelling things like, "Pull
on that...that...thingy until the big thing whips around
and the front part is pointing over there."
Is that the way Admiral Lord Nelson conducted his fleet at
the battle of Trafalgar?
You want to be able to say, "Reef the mainsheet and trim
the boom vang until we're hard alee and close hauled, you
barnacle-bitten land-lubber!"
Well, the last part may not be one hundred percent necessary.
So, can anybody figure out what I just said? Because I have
no idea.
